From the Doctor: Oral Bacteria, the start of bad things to come?

The mouth is the gateway to the body.  Unfortunately, our mouth is also a repository for all kinds of bacterial growth. Each time we eat, we leave some small trace elements of food in the cracks and crevaces between our teeth and gums. I know, yuk. Our saliva helps wash some away, but over time the food breaks down into bacteria or plaque. Without continuous brushing and flossing and periodic dental cleanings this bacteria stay in the mouth, multiplying and becomes a hard tartar along the gumline, creating the onset of gum disease.  Diseased gums become a bacteria factory that eventually gets into the bloodstream and is carried to other parts of the body, potentially infecting other vital organs. Affordable Health Care Act:

As many of you have heard, the Affordable Health Care Act: aka: Obamacare, has many hidden taxes in it.  One that directly affects us is the 3% tax on medical devices.  The definition of medical device, at first, was thought to be appliances or fixtures that were either implanted or removable as a prosthetic device.  As the definition is interpreted, it will affect just about everything we buy through our Dental Product Distributors.

On top of a 7% annual fee increase our Dental Suppliers have already imposed on us, this leads to a 10% across the board cost increase for us.  We have tried very hard to not increase fees in the last few years because of the struggling economy.  However, with a permanent tax being imposed on us, we will have to modify our fees slightly to accommodate these increases. 

We will do everything in our power to reduce expenses to try to keep any fee increases to a minimum.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.
